An Absent Audience by Ivan Guerrero Najera

An Absent Audience

You pulled the plug on playtime
When you left looking for yourself

I turn into a jealous mime
Without an audience, tips or wealth

I lack the color of my costume
The world is empty, dark and gray

By shades and shadows, I feel consumed
I long for your bright, reviving ray

In corners, cracks and crevices
I search my feeble smile

You’ve all the knowledge of happy places
My eyes have blindly cried a while

Return so I can fix what broke
Give back yourself, I’m on my knees

My show is just a long, sad joke
When my two fans are absentees
