Cicadas by Ivan Guerrero Najera

Cicadas

The summer cicadas leave here
Clicking in envy
Of all that I whisper
In secret surrender to you

The end of the season is near
Their song can't offend me
They call out to her
Digging under, away and right through

I stay for the fall over here
Awaiting at this tree
I've nothing to offer
Optimistic, wishful and true

They hide for a year
In denial of all I can see
Through the seasons, I stare
Facing everything new

The cicadas, my dear
Excitement present in your belly
Embrace them, for they're everywhere
They'll return in a bit, in a few
