Not a Lifetime by Ivan Guerrero Najera

Not a Lifetime

If I had found you earlier
Would your love be the same?
Would your extra kisses and caress
Change the way you now say my name?

It doesn’t feel like a lifetime to be here
Every morning is a start
And every night your embrace
Heals my heart and resets

Though I wish all of my days
Had been a part of yours
The fleeting moments
Make them much more precious

I’ve earned the role
To earn your love today
And every day you grant me
As you share your travels my way

It’s sixteen years since we first met
I’m getting to know you
And I’m pleased that every day
Is another chance to try

It’s more like the time of my life
My focus and aim
To have you here and love you
And know you feel the same
